Ordinary Australians

This is a story I entered in a competition for "Overland". It didn't even make the shortlist and I will never find out why I am sure. I have never written stories though. So why should I expect it? And for all I know it just didn't suit their theme. I must embrace the idea that all experiences are a stepping stone to learning to become a much better writer. So I hope you enjoy this here: Ordinary Australians (in lieu of a better title), a story of how neoliberalism destroys the dreams ordinary Australians, while brainwashing them to think they act in their best interests. An antidote to the derogatory #boomer narratives.
